Swayambhunath - On a hilltop overlooking the Kathmandu Valley
Sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists, the Swayambhunath Stupa is thought to be 2,500 years old, the elevated round dome represents the elements fire, earth, wind, and water. The steps leading to it symbolize the steps to Nirvana.

Strings of multi-colored flags inscribed with prayers stream from the top of stupas and other sacred places in Nepal. The prayers are believed to be carried to the gods by the wind.
Prayer Wheels - The concept is similar to prayer flags. Spin the wheel to send a prayer on its way.
