Germany

Dear honey;

How are my darlings tonight? I received three packages today, four letters from you, one from ma and one from Charlie. The packages were the ones with the pen, (it writes good), the moccasins, the socks, handkerchiefs, coffee, and candie. I’m all set now for a while. It sure seemed good to get on these moccasins. This pen sure is a dandie.

I sure hope Chucky’s ears don’t start bothering him again. Maybe they are healing is why they seem to tickle him.

Your mail seems to be coming through about like mine.

Chucky must have heard Ike and Ray talking to Sandra about a baby brother. Well I guess he’ll have to wait a while alright.

The letters I got today were the ones of the second, third, fourth and fifth. I got two letters from you yesterday and one from ma. I didn’t get them until this morning. They didn’t bring them out to where I was on guard.

I see that ma likes her “beano” games as well as ever.

One of the fellows just took my picture while I was writing. He said I could send it to you to show you how faithful I was. That was “Pop” Trine said that.

It helps a lot now to have Chucky able to tell you how he feels and what’s wrong, doesn’t it.

My boxes were all in good shape honey. The one with the moccasins was banged up a little but it wasn’t packed as solid as the others either.

     I really needed those combs.

I didn’t have an eversharp pencil until the other day. I found a pretty good German pencil. I had a bunch of lead but nothing to use it in, so I’m all set on pens and pencils now.

Well darling I guess I’d better close for now. I’ll send you some of this Belgium money. I’d better send you a couple of these old pictures of Chucky too.

Goodnight darling. Lots of hugs and kisses for my darlings.

                                                                      Your loving husband

                                                                              Clarence

P.S. I love you darling.

P.S. Send me some air mail envelopes honey.

Note: Dad’s brother Ray and his wife Ike (Eileen) were expecting their second child at this time. Sandra, who was Chucky’s age, was their first. My dad received notice of the May 3rd birth of Bonnie Marie while he was stationed in Kruft, Germany.

Ray and Ike were visiting Clarence in South Carolina when this photo was taken.
