Dear honey;

     How are my darlings tonight? I received a letter from ma today, but none from you. I shouldn’t expect any after what I got yesterday. They got quite a few boxes today, so I should be getting mine sometime before long.

     I did my washing this afternoon. I had to. Most everything was dirty. We just put them on the stove and boil the dirt out of them.

     So Lewis joined the Merchant Marines. Well that makes three of us now. Lewis will make good money anyway.

     The other day when I was to town I noticed a lot of the women wore fur coats. It’s no wonder. A coat that cost about three or four hundred at home only cost around sixty dollars here.

     The guys have been cleaning the stove pipe and knocking soot all over the clothes I washed today.

     Lots of love for my darlings.

                                                                                  Love,

                                                                                      Clarence
