France

Dear honey;

     How are my darlings tonight? Is Chucky getting better?

     I got a letter from ma today and it was about a month

old. It probably went to England first. I just got through

writing her, and now I can’t think of any more to write

about.

     I didn’t go to town the other night. I guess I should

have though. I had figured on going tomorrow night

instead, but I’m on C.Q. tomorrow. There isn’t much to do

in any of these towns here. Not being able to talk French

makes it all the harder to get around.

     So Grandpa is still bringing Chucky pop. He wouldn’t

know what to do without him now.

     I’d better close now darling. Lots of love for my darlings.

                                                   Your loving husband

                                                           Clarence

Note: C.Q. is "Charge of Quarters", which must have meant being in charge of the main office because he wrote longer letters on those days and they were typed.

   Chucky was having trouble with his ears at this time, I believe.
