Dear honey;

     How are my darlings tonight? We (-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------)

     I don’t know which way the mail will come the fastest so, I’ll send this letter to you by airmail and one to ma by V-mail. Let me know which you get the quickest.

     It sure seemed good to get off of the boat. This is pretty nice country here. They really keep the farms around here up nice.

     I haven’t contacted Ed yet but I’m going to try tomorrow. I wrote him a letter today. He should get that in a couple of days. I believe that I’ll be able to get to see him. If I can get away he can probably get where I am. I sure hope so anyway.

     How is my little man? Has he broken his tank up yet? I’m glad you like the compact. It is something a little different.

     You remember those moccasins you got me?

before long.

     My A.P.O. number has been changed again.

     I was to a show tonight. It was a pretty good picture.

     Tell Chucky that his daddy said he was welcome.

     I guess I’d better close for now and write ma.

     Goodnight darling. Lots of love for my darlings.

                                             Your loving husband

                                                      Clarence

P.S. I love you darling.

Note: Some of my dad's early letters from overseas were pretty chopped up. Any mention of location was forbidden and the censor promptly cut it out.

This V-Mail, sent by by a friend to my dad in 1943 makes light of the censor's clipping.

The compact my dad mentions in the letter is this one, I believe:
